Welcome to the 2009-10 edition of the Blackhawk and South Central Wisconsin Regional webpage.  You will find information on the regional tournament, contacts, tips, resources and news.

Mark your calendars now for the South Central and Blackhawk Regional tournament. The date this year is March 13th, 2010.

IF you missed the Regional Roundtable, or if you still have questions regarding the Tournament, contact your Regional Director, or you can contact me (Web-site Info). I'll try to answer any question, and if I cannot answer, I'll try to get you in touch with the correct person.

New Team Managers - this first year can be exhausting if you do not have the proper support. If you're feeling overwhelmed, contact your school coordinator, or the Regional Director, or even the webmaster, and one of us will be glad to help you through any rough patches.

State Sponsored TM Training - WIDI, (Wisconsin DI) is offering training to all team managers. Ended in December.

TEAMS AND TM's - Time To Get Cracking12/29/09

With the turning of a new year, work will start to get more intense. Your team should have an idea what their props, costumes, characters and story will be like. Besides these, have your team start thinking about the Side Trips - what quality, skill or workmanship do you want to show off for the Appraisers.

If your team has decided to do something technical (and this is not limited to the technical Challenges), an assigned person(s) should be working on this project now.

Don't forget to check the CLARIFICATIONS.

Don't forget to RE-READ the Challenge and Rules of the Road.

Challenge Clarifications

*** Clarifications are starting now, go to idodi.com, sign-in, and start checking these.

Many new TM's, and even experienced TM's, do not realize they can ask questions of the International Challenge Masters. Each challenge has two ICMs that have the final say on the interpretation of the Challenges. These ICM's are the only people that can tell you whether your team, and its solution, is heading on the right track. The team is allowed to ask 5 questions throughout the year to clarify any misunderstanding of their reading (and re-reading) of the challenge. If your team is going to stretch the meaning of the Challenge (as they should), it is a good idea to verify with the ICM's that they are not breaking the spirit of the challenge. Project Outreach Information

To anyone that hasn't had experience with the Project Outreach Challenge I found this letter explaining the program. I hope it clarifies any questions you may have with it.

"The projectOUTREACH challenge was piloted last year as one of the six challenge options for middle and secondary teams that are participating in a Team Challenge with Destination ImagiNation. It combines problem solving, teamwork and creativity just like all of the other challenges with one big difference. (Read more article HERE)
