Regional Teams are Fabulous at 2009 Global Finals

Teams from our region that advanced to Global Finals at Knoxville, TN in May, 2009 gave us all something we can be proud about. Our teams faced up to 60 teams (in each challenge) from all across the US and the world, and we showed that creativity is alive and thriving in south central Wisconsin.

In Challenge A - Operation Cooperation Elementary Level, Lake Geneva School placed 6th. Also in Challenge A, but in Middle Level another Lake Geneva school also placed 6th. It's amazing when one school from a community comes in 6th place, but to have two schools from the same community reach those heights is out of this world.

In Challenge B - Instinct Messaging - Secondary Level, Waunakee Creative Problem Solvers got in trophy class with a solid 3rd place finish. If you did not see this teams performance you missed a spectacular skit. The costuming and story were first rate.

In Challenge C - ViDIo Lit Hits - Middle Level, Middleton School garnered a 7th place finish. I'm sorry to say I did not get a chance to see this team, but from second hand sources, I was told they performed very, very well.

On the state level, Wisconsin did very well in Global Finals. They garnered one 1st place finish, one 2nd, two 3rd, five 5th place finishes and three sixth place. And one also received a Renaissance Award. Our Region also assisted Globals with Appraisers and volunteers, so almost no matter where you were, you could find a friendly face at the tournament.

Global Finals is a non-stop adventure ride for teams and volunteers alike. It seems more and more activities are being added every year: pin trading, workshops, parties, you name it and it seems to be going on. And now with the two new Challenges coming on line (Construction Challenge and Project OutReach) there is more opportunity for teams to get to Globals. Teams - work hard, stretch the boundaries of creativity, and skillfully build sets and you too can get to Globals. To see some photos CLICK HERE.
